Design

The Longbow is a powerful dreadnought in used by the Ascendancy. Owing to its yet more powerful reactor than the Spatha, it is able to utilize more powerful thrusters without losing too much speed.

Well armed with a dozen Graviton Cannons and four heavy double proton blasters, the Longbow has an additional centrally located neutronium cannon- The stabilized neutronium slugs projected with unerring accuracy by this weapon fly at 9 kilometers per second, rendering them appallingly powerful and long ranged. This is one of the two reasons for its name (the other being its shape largely resembling a bow); it is capable of accurate fire over far longer ranges than other Ascendancy ships. In addition, it hosts hangar arrays to carry hundreds of fighters and a powerful dimensional engine. As a result of these features, the Longbow typically sticks towards the back of the formation where it can engage at long range.

For defense, the Longbow boasts a powerful thermal shield, which while efficient can be penetrated by a powerful enough attack. However, it is rare to find an opposing ship that is a match for the Longbows defenses.
