Vatoru
Vatoru is the northernmost known continent, straddling the equator to the west of Auria. Far smaller than Auria at only 3,000,000 square kilometers, Vatoru is mostly arid desert and mountains, with jungles on the outskirts. The only modern inhabitants of Vatoru are Andovri who never migrated to Auria, and thus remain distant from their kin, but there are ruins of ancient civilizations found in the sun-bleached deserts. Vatoru has a distinctive hourglass-like shape, and the outsides are lined with mountain ranges shielding the interior deserts from rainfall. The center of the hourglass shape is open to the winds, and as thus is an incredibly verdant jungle home to a stunning diversity of life.
Oremundi
Oremundi is another large continent in the distant west, further north than Auria but still in the southern hemisphere. Its size cannot be accurately assessed due to its remoteness, estimates ranging from 5,000,000 square kilometers to 20,000,000. Oremundi seems to be a long, generally thin continent, and its native populations are advanced enough to deal with most Aurian states on a generally equal basis. Oremundi has been known of for a long time, as the Andovri of Vatoru have established colonies there dating back centuries, but only recently have Aurian ships made the journey across the Silver Sea to reach the land. The natives are diverse, some known to make heavy use of bronze and silver, with many having reddish or darker skin.
The Silver Seas
West of Auria, east of Oremundi, and south of Vatoru lies the broad, mostly shallow ocean known as the Silver Seas. The Silver Seas are host to a great number of islands and reef ecologies, being far more verdant than the distant Sea of Dragons to the east, or the Vatorun Ocean in the north. Thousands of islands, and far more islets, dot the western coast of Auria, stretching up towards Vatoru, while the space near Oremundi is comparatively empty. The two largest cluster of islands is off the coast of Eyr's Lands, where the ocean-going, nomadic Kao tribes live, and deep in the southern sea west of the Penninsula of Iril. In the southern seas, many Sidri live on islands in trade outposts and small cities, servicing passing ships for trade or war and fishing from the bounty of the sea. These islands are generally temperate to cool, and have a great number of fish. One of the southernmost isles is the Claw of Aros, a place with great importance in the mythology of the Sidri.
Auria
Auria, the continent containing the Heartlands, is a large continent, amounting to some 60,000,000 square kilometers, containing the vast majority of all known land. Auria lies entirely in the southern hemisphere, with its northernmost point being the Asuri mountains in the far northwest, north of Eyr's Dunes. In the south, the southeastern Great Penninsula stretches near the frigid pole, where the land is covered in permafrost and the mountains on either side hold massive glaciers. The land is as diverse as one might expect for a landmass containing most of the worlds known landmass, containing every imaginable biome and a great diversity of life- plant, animal, or civilized.
The dominant group on Auria is the Andovri, the copper or silver-skinned natives of Vatoru who now primarily live in the northwestern and northeastern regions of Auria. The Andovri's military and economic might is unchallenged throughout the land, even among those groups that had lived there for long ages before the Andovri appeared some thousand-five hundred years ago. In the south, the original natives of Auria still stand tall. The far southwestern coasts are largely controlled by the sea-going Sidri, while the southern forests are home to the ancient Sylvans. To the east, all-too-often forgotten, are the adventurous but greatly diminished Dwarrow, the sylvans closest relatives- and most hated enemies.
But throughout all of Auria, one region in particular is notable for its diversity of life, danger, and most of all lack of civilization. The central heartland of Auria is nearly entirely unpopulated, with every attempt at colonization ending quietly and with little fanfare. Throughout the years, this massive, uncharted wilderness has slowly, subtly grown in size, pushing the civilized races closer to the coasts and edges of the continents as magical storms, strange beasts, and unfortunate incident continously cause outward migration.
