Abilities and Equipment
Ke'ai has remarkable ability to swim owing to their mutations, including gills to breathe underwater and fins.
Ke'ai was born the son of a Kao shaman, near the Abyssal Reef. Born with several abberant mutations; including fins on their back and feet, and multiple rows of sharp teeth.
In their childhood they traded with traveling merchants, selling baubles they retrieved from underwater. One day when diving for artifacts their home island was attacked by raiders from the Blackwater Archipelago. They were harpooned underwater and dragged aboard the cruel ships of the raiders.
The tribals bound them and sailed through mysterious waterways which seemed to defy the geography of the land, passing through mist-enwreathed passages to reach their home island. Ke'ai believed their fate was a long slow death, as their fellow captives were eaten alive before their eyes, but instead they were unharmed other than their harpoon wound, and the next day they were dragged to the mysterious Blackwater Isle.
Bound tightly and placed upon a stone tablet in front of the dark temple, when they came to a horrible creature- with many mouths stacked above eachother and bristling with darkly-colored quills, glistening with a slick nebulous fluid- leers above them, before being startled by something and quickly darts back towards the temple.
Falling unconcious again, when Ke'ai comes to again their bonds are mysteriously vanished...
