Stormfighter

Abilities and Equipment

Standard Lextan infantry, Stormfighters possess all the capabilities of a typical Lexta- Regeneration, enhanced strength and agility, and superior senses- together with diligent training.

Because of Lexta's superior learning abilities, Stormfighters are able to master a variety of combat techniques with relative ease. They are career soldiers, well skilled with a variety of weapons and tactics.

Physically, Stormfighters abundance of Lifeforce makes them imposing fighters, considerably more agile than even sylvans or dwarrow and with more than enough physical strength to match an Andovri. Their metallic skeletons, regeneration capacity, scaled skin, and reactive biology also makes them considerably more resilient to damage.

Stormfighters are well equipped, with Lunite cuirasses, scale armor tunics, vambraces, spectacled helmets, and greaves, providing substantial protection from head to toe, albeit lacking in armor on the fingers, elbows, and knees. Under the scale armor is a layer of protective silk padding. Lunite's protective qualities stem not only from its physical strength and hardness, but also the aura of lunar resonance which is both harmful to enemies and protective to the wearer.

For weaponry, Stormfighters wield either long slender cut-and-thrust swords with elaborate S-shaped guards, or light one-handed lunite crescent axes. In their off-hand, they wield rounded, teardrop shaped shields forged of Lunite, around 40 centimeters in diameter.

Making up the bulk of the Lexta population of Cyril Aldyrax, Stormfighters are the standard military of that state. Lexta, congealed from Silvermyst eruptions, are raised to hunt and fight from their "birth". While not all serve as military, the majority of Lexta form a privileged military elite.

After several years to develop their identity and train, a Lexta chooses their profession. Those that serve on the front lines are known as Stormfighters, well disciplined and trained Lextan infantry armed and armored with Lunite mined from the moon.

In battle, they fight less as a single cohesive unit and more in flexible, loose formations as individuals, relying on artillery, sorcery, and terrain to break up dense clusters of enemy units and render them vulnerable to the superior dueling skills of the Lexta. This combat style allows them to take full advantage of their superior agility, rather than restricting them to fixed formations where there is no room to maneuver. Stormfighters fight aggressively, rapidly striking and then withdrawing, exploiting every gap in an enemies defenses only to disappear as suddenly as they struck.

This combat style is most at home fighting monsters and champions, and that is what Stormfighters most excel at- their foes are more frequently divine terrors and sorcerors than they are paltry mortal bands.

Generally, Stormfighters are grouped into small squads, typically of close family, with eight squads forming a single Star Regiment under the command of a Star Captain.

Star Regiments are largely formed on an ad hoc basis rather than being truly permanent associations, and Stormfighter squads operate independently whenever not on campaign, hunting monsters, patrolling the region, or exploring the Myst-lost Kingdom.

Stormhunter

Abilities and Equipment

Stormhunters are generally equipped the same way as Stormfighters, with lunite cuirasses, spectacled helmets, and honeycomb-scale tunics. Because of their use of archery, they are somewhat more versatile than Stormfighters. They typically fight in the same units as Stormfighters.

Despite being archers, Stormhunters are not suited to volley fire, owing to small numbers. They practice their archery for sharpshooting and close-range combat instead, taking individual targets and sniping them from range or fighting at close range with rapid fire. Because of this, Stormhunters are far more capable in melee than most archers, lacking none of the close-quarters combat skill of the Stormfighter.

Stormfighters equipped with recurve bows are known as Stormhunters. These archers are equipped fundamentally the same way as Stormfighters, but instead of carrying shields they carry bows. In melee combat, they are equipped with dual swords or axes.

Because Lunite is not a suitable material for archery, Stormfighters typically wield Reaver or Wyvern-horn recurve bows, inscribed with Lunite runes.

Terra Regiment

Abilities and Equipment

Khavroskhriir are equipped with mass-produced munition equipment, typically cast steel lamellar and peaked helmets over linen underarmor. This armor is very protective, but is inferior to hand-forged plate and scale like that used by knights or Stormfighters.

Khavroskhriir are typically equipped with som mixture of longbows, hand axes, one-handed spears, and thick oaken shields.

Ordinary mortals in the service of the Cyro-Aldyraxian military, Terra Regiment are unlike Stormfighters in that they serve a single tour of duty before retiring. Unlike Stormfighters, who live a life of fighting, adventure, and training, Terra Regiment are primarily garrison troops; They perform the rote tasks of guarding caravans, defending cities, keeping the peace, and holding the line in battle.

Unlike the more individualized fighting style of Stormfighters, Terra Regiment are drilled professional troops first and foremost. They get perhaps a year of training and mass-produced, steel equipment, making them a reasonable threat to any mortal army but not particularly exceptional.

Most Terra Regiment are Dwarrow, with a sizable Sylvan minority, and then smaller numbers of Dragar, Sidri, Aurorans, and Easterners.

Astral Knight

Abilities and Equipment

True exemplars of martial virtue, Astral Knights are champions with a diverse skillset and weapons at their disposal.

While there is no standard equipment, there are some commonalities; Favored weapons of the Astral Knights typically include sleek Cytaari war axes, two-handed flambards, recurve bows, and swordstaves. Shields are uncommon, most Astral Knights either wielding a weapon in each hand or one with both hands.

Astral knight armor is typical of the Cytaari, generally sporting a mixture of fluted partial plate coverage together with scale or lamellar, and protective silk padding underneath. Every piece of armor or weapon is hand-forged and enchanted by the most skilled artisans the Lexta have to offer, perfectly fit to the individuals combat style. Lunite and Cosmium are typical materials, giving the Astral Knights a potent purification aura particularly harmful to aspects of Primordial Sin.

All Astral Knights possess some degree of sorcerous talent, although the exact nature of that ability is varied. Unlike the mortal races, Astral Knights are untouched by Primordial Sin, making them capable of wielding solar, lunar, and cosmic magic.

Even among the martially gifted Lexta, there are those with uncanny talent and ability that raise them above their peers, who are true exemplars of martial virtue. Many of these are among the first generation of Lexta, mortal followers of Len who ascended to become Lexta, retaining all the skills of their past lives. The storied heroes of the Lexta rank among their number; Kylluo, Dyrwi, Kotori.

These Lexta are formed into eight squads under the command of Knight-captain Kotori, less than a hundred in total. These are the Astral Knights, the most powerful champions of Cyril Aldyrax since that nascent state's founding.

Even moreso than Stormfighters, Astral Knights rely on their own skills and their bonds with their squads over any kind of large-scale formation; Invariably, every Astral Knight is a sorceror with an abundance of lifeforce, making them even more potent in combat. Each Knight has a highly individualized fighting style and specialization, and as such it is more down to individual squads of Knights to put their skills to the best usage, rather than relying on orders from superiors.
